Kitesurfers Out In Force

Kitesurfers took to the water Nov. 26 at Wailua Beach on the east side of the island. Conditions were overcast. Winds were running 25 mph with even higher gusts. However, the waves weren’t big enough for the kitesurfers to get big air.

This extreme sport is a type of wakeboarding, but instead of being pulled by a boat, the kiteboarder is pulled by a kite, which is used to catch wind.
