Kimo’s Vegas

WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas … the Player’s Edge!

SINCE ITS INSTALLATION, many a Las Vegas tourist has taken a souvenir photo in front of the bronze butts that grace the Riviera’s front entrance. The sculpture was created by Michael Conine and is made from 400 pounds of life-sized plaster molds in a process he describes as messy. The “Crazy Girls” revue celebrated 25 years and 17,000 performances by going for the record of the “Longest Butt Lineup” (that mirrored the iconic okole pose) in the history of the Strip … The public relations stunt also kicked off Sin City’s National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

WHY SAVE THE best for last? This month is the perfect time to break with tradition and eat dessert first. Try one of the “Pink Pastries” being served at patisseries all over town, including the Grand Cafe in Green Valley Ranch Resort, Palace Station, Red Rock Resort, Santa Fe Station, Sunset Station and Texas Station.

TOO RADICAL a gastronomic suggestion? How about a more conservative break from tradition … “Pink Fajitas” will be served all month at many Mexican eateries … Think tortillas made from flour tinted with Victoria’s favorite color.

OR MAYBE a pink drink is more your style … Ricardo’s Mexican Restaurant made 7,627 gallons of pink Margaritas (a new Guinness World Record) using 1,215 gallons of Rosangel hibiscus-infused tequila, 5,000 gallons of spring water, 396 gallons of triple sec, 750 quarts of lime juice and 20 pounds of salt.

PINK EYE … No, you’re not seeing things. The water is really pink this time of the year. The Fountains and Rain Forest of the Miracle Mile Shops in the Planet Hollywood change color, and all money tossed into them gets donated to the cause.

THE FOUNTAINS at the Bellagio also get into the pink spirit, dancing to pink-themed songs like the Henry Mancini tune popularized by the Inspector Clouseau movies.

OF COURSE, many stores have discounts and special offers this month, including the popular Las Vegas Premium Outlets. Make a $10 donation to

Susan G. Komen Search for the Cure and get a 25 percent off coupon on any single item … Check out its site for the details: premiumoutlets.com.

YOU’D HAVE TO be from the super-secluded Andaman Islands not to find a way to support the good works of the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen Search for the Cure this month.
