For each new 2014 or 2015 vehicle it sells through Dec. 31, Subaru Hawaii will donate $250 to Hawaii nonprofits, including Kauai Humane Society and Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii. This is the fourth year of its community-based “Share the Love” sales campaign. Deborah Ullman and Bradley Klontz recently were recognized by Hawaii Psychological Association for their distinguished contributions to mental health services and psychology. Ullman was granted the 2014 Daniel K. Inouye Award for Advancement of Psychology in Hawaii by a non-psychologist, and Klontz won the Significant Professional Contribution Award for a Hawaii psychologist who made significant scholarly contributions and achievements in the field. They both were honored at a ceremony at Hyatt Regency Waikiki. More than 30 associates from Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas volunteered at Boys & Girls Club last month to help complete a variety of projects, including gardening and landscaping, to refresh and enhance the nonprofit’s Kapaa Clubhouse facilities.

The Garden Island‘s food writer Marta Lane has released the latest version of her book, Tasting Kauai: Restaurants 2015 — An Insider’s Guide to Eating Well on the Garden Island. She will host a series of cocktail parties around the island to celebrate its launch “just in time for the holidays.” The new book has been updated and is “meatier” than the last, with a number of new additions accompanied by photos from her husband, Midweek Kauai‘s Daniel Lane. Tickets for the book-launching events cost $35 and include an autographed copy of the book, pupus and one drink at one of the restaurants highlighted in the book. The next celebration is Friday (Dec. 5) from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Tiki Iniki in Hanalei.
